Mulberrys seem to be very susceptible to Sooty Canker after the hot moist monsoon season in Phoenix. From what i understand, the nasty spores enter the tree through wounds.
Seems like a good way to prevent this would be to not prune the tree at all thus keeping the tree wound free. This however isnt an option for several of my clients who have pretty massive Mulberrys in there yards.
The constant encroachment over the house, power lines and street ect make it necesaary to do some crown thinning evey year. Well, I am finding an alarming amount of this black fungus in areas where last years cuts were made. This is strange to me since I sterilized my saw between cuts when working the sickly stuff(wich wasnt much) during the last few seasons. These are big trees for this area and any help in stopping the spread would be appreciated.
Abasol micro injections?
Thanx yall
