You may be right. But it's clearly not universally considered racist. Again, racism implies a belief by one party that the other is inherently, perhaps immutably inferior. NO ONE thinks that about sports teams. Braves, Indians, Redskins, Seminoles, Chiefs- all named in honor of native culture, not in spite of it.

I'll find "Reel Injun" and give it a go. God knows I have enough streaming services now, I should be able to find it. I'll give you a full report, as they say.

It’s a good flick. But in my family, and native circles NO ONE feels that any of the sports crap is honoring their ancestors.

So a bunch of white boys show up in DC to protest a womans right to choose what she does with her body. While wearing their MAGA swag, which itself carries racial connotations, they somehow manage to get into a confrontation with some black men, then follow it up with a run in with a native American, during which time we can see them disrespect an entire race of humans with their tomahawk motions and their war cries. Am I missing something here TC? It appears that the fucking alter boys need to reflect on their poor judgement, and blatantly disrespectful and racist actions.. Unfortunately i believe these MAGA wearing, punk-ass, lilly white turds found exactly what they were looking for in DC. Trouble! I would also be very interested in the judgement and motives of the so-called chaperon's of these choir boys. Was the OG choir boy par excellence Bart O'Kavanaugh among them, teaching these young men his virtuous Catholics ways?

@rico - you might already know about it, but look into the massacre at Duluwat (Indian) Island - that little spot of land in the bay between Eureka, CA and Samoa.

I'd never even heard about it until I lived in Eureka and a speaker came from the Wiyott tribe to talk about the history.

Heres the man that these young men chose to disrespect with their racist tomahawk chop and war cries. Their prior conflict with the black fella's in no way gave them the right to treat Nathan with such insolence. Yeah, seems like that wasn't what he claimed. Don't want to call him a liar, but he's really pushing it. Even claimed he was spit on by a hippie girl upon returning from Vietnam.

He also led his group on the same night, Jan. 19, to the D.C. Basilica and tried to enter the church and disrupt service, banging his drum the whole time. Had to lock the doors and use security to keep them out. Sounds like he's got a problem with Catholics. Also sounds like he's a professional instigator.

Meantime the woke warriors and champions of tolerance on the left are threatening the lives of these kids, doxxing their parents and their businesses, and being serious enough about it that the school was closed today at the recommendation of law enforcement for the safety of students and staff. How very progressive of them.
 
Taking the girl at her word as to what happened, it would take a heck of a lot more than yelling "MAGA" and "Build the wall" to cross any freedom of speech line. I've always believed the remedy for repugnant speech is more of it. So in that sense I agree; we need an Open Up. Sunlight is the best disinfectant, as they say. If someone or some group is spewing repugnant vitriol, why not let them shout it from the rooftops so the whole world can see what utter jackasses they are? We let the Klan and Neo-Nazis march (with police protection!) just for this reason.

Young people seem to have developed an expectation that they are entitled to go through life unoffended. A real failure of parenting and education. How can you walk through a heated protest at the nation's Capitol and act offended when you hear something you don't agree with? Jeez, that's the whole point of free speech and what used to be called a "liberal" education. Exposure to ideas (or slogans, or MAGA hats) with which you disagree is fundamental to intellectual growth and public debate.

Not saying shouting at the girls was smart. Or the sort of behavior these kids' parents would be happy to see. But it does nothing to convince me that they deserve death threats.

Sorry for the free speech mini-diatribe.
 
With a Right there comes a Responsibility

Spouting off and then hiding out behind Free Speech is spineless behavior. Words can hurt. Verbally harassing the young ladies is tiny steps close to assault. Be resposnsible and hold them to task for an apology. Don’t condone or defend them
