I have a set of Kliens also. Got them for for thick nasty bark trees like black locust. I own four sets total. I don't know why I have that many when I only have two feet.

Thank you guys for the pics.
This provision exempts hook for rigging? Because of this attachment point above the ball?

Our crane has two hooks, small hook for me and big hook for rigging. When I work with a single hook, I use the technique that you recommend.

I work in clein and Buc gaffs. Сlein I like more.
Yes,
But also more steady TIP because when tying to the hook, there is a safety latch, & the 1/1000 chance the latch could become tripped if in the canopy.

With the TIP above the ball, that potential is removed by using kit that cannot be unintentionally opened.

You are still authorized to rig off the crane tied in above the ball. The only thing that changes is, if you are going to ride the pick, your load must be less then %50 of your load chart capacity. Most of the time I tie in to the tree before making my cut, so for my picks I go to %80 of my load chart.

Where did you reference that figure?

That's just what I have been taught as I worked crane jobs. To be honest, I don't have any formal training besides EHAP. It seamed like logical numbers to me.

@AlexArbo you had a video of a pretty neat set up of your gear in a work van right?
that first video was pretty cool. that must have felt pretty wild being out on the tips of the dead tree where one would typically have no business being using traditional methods.
and after watching your other videos, it would appear your rope guy has some good confidence in his timing.
cool stuff man, keep posting.
