Fred Marvin tools

I got a contract to prune rows and rows of street trees that are easily pruned from the ground with pole saws. I was at a john deer shop and they had marvin blades for sale so I gave them a go. They are as good as any blade I have used and for $20! I think the fred marvin company is out of Ohio too, not sure where the blades are actually made though? Anyway, just wanted to see if others have enjoyed using these blades? Seems like i'm always happy with marvin tools. :bailando:

I have very limited experience with Marvin, with the exception of one instance.

A year ago I ordered a Marvin "Classic pruner head".
The literature states the maximum cut is 1-1/4".

This is not correct, since the blade extends into the anvil loop by a large amount.

A 1-1/4" branch cannot be cut since it will not fit into the anvil.
Perhaps a 1" to 7/8" branch could be cut, as it will start fit into the cutting area, but the leverage is poor.
Only a 3/4" will fit into the bottom of the anvil loop, for proper cutting leverage.

After complaining, I was very quickly provided w/ a Marvin "Bull" pruner head, which does not have this design issue.

I've got the same blades. They work great. I don't know who makes the blades either. I also have blades that are labeled the same but instead of the Marvin logo they have a Treestuff logo.
