Food Thread

@Matias
Original counter was ceramic tile w/ crout.
Looks great in magazine photos, but impossible to clean with grease, food spills, etc.

No adhesive used.
Just form, friction & gravity.
I very carefully measured the dimensions (3 or 4 times). 23’3” L w/ a 1” 90° bend at the end.
I took the s.s. sheet to a sheet metal forming shop.
The bend slips in between the stove, and the counter top.
Neither the LH or RH sheets have ever moved.

The shop employees had side bets on whether it would fit into my car . . . . . it did !

That's so sick! I will be starting from scratch, so I will keep that in the back of my mind when I'm trying to figure it out

WOW !
Gardens spoil anyone who visits a grocery looking for good produce ! ! !

@TreeCo, What is that in the garden picture, that looks like a board with tubes gathered together at the bottom and connected to a disc?

That is my homemade corn planter. It is upside down, I hang it that way to keep the garden hoses straighter. The disc is a coffee can lid. The planting end is a 2 x 2 with holes for the garden hose every six inches. I move my corn planter down the row with the end of the 2 x 2 placed at the last seed planted. Then from the coffee can lid I drop one corn seed at a time down the five hoses that stick up through the lid.

More . . . . .

Lamb - Napa Cabbage Rolls
Rev: 250423 1030

Napa cabbage leaves – steam 10 min.
Lamb, ground – 1 #
2 carrots – small dice
2 celery – small dice
½ red onion – small dice
¼ c Basmati Un-cooked Rice – Cooked = 125 g cooked

Note: I recently learned from 2 different sources, that the best Basmati is “aged in the husk for 2 years” prior to final processing ! ! ! This requires special storage w/ controlled temperature, humidity, etc.
I have started using “Pride of India” brand.
Previously I used “Rice Select” brand, which is fine; and cheaper. I have been using this brand for Shushi.

Black pepper
Marjoram

Toppings:
Sauerkraut
Marinara garlic sauce

Bake: 350°F for 2 hr in covered casserole.

"Simple" sourdough loaf. Anyone who knows sourdough knows it's not actually simple...at first! It takes time to learn the dough, how to stretch and fold, when to bake. But it sure is worth it! This is probably the best one I ever made. Even my wife, who "hates sourdough" said it tasted fantastic! I used a scratch-made starter that's been sitting in the fridge for about 5 months with occasional feedings.

How did you use it ?

Only one loaf ?

Yes, only one loaf this time. About 510 grams (18 oz) of flour. We strictly use it for toast with a ton of real butter on it. I'll grab a photo tonight so you can see the crumb. I mixed it in the afternoon then cold-fermented in the fridge after a few hours. Pulled for a few hours then baked. Simple starter/flour/salt/water recipe, 20/100/2/65

All food efforts do not turn out good.
I saw deep fried avocados & decided to try. (lemon juice, AP flour, egg wash, Panko; 350°F for 2 min)
Don’t bother . . . . . raw, w/ a little lemon juice, & a little salt (Fleu de Sel, sea salt, or table salt) is better.
