first crane job(s)

I got a call a few months ago, a referral from an existing customer... one of his neighbors wanted 2 LARGE locust trees taken down from his front yard. I had decided that a crane was necessary to safely remove them both. I told the guy how much and we decided to hold off until the winter. Now as an added bonus to this job, my customer who referred me also wants 2 LARGE locusts taken down, but it's a much easier job. Well my customer called me up a few weeks ago to tell me that he was ready to have his trees cut down, and just now I got a call from the neighbor that he too is ready. Apparently in the process of putting an addition onto his house he feels he cut too many roots on the trees. So now all I have to do is wait for the crane company to call me back with a date for when we can do the job. VERY happy right now.

Good deal Hl tree have some fun for the ones who have yet to crane a job yet, get some pics.

What reason is crane needed? Decay i must assume as i've not encountered many very large black locust.....Post some pics of them..Let's see what you are dealing with.

Be safe, becoe familiar with your operator, and take your time.

I've known the operator for several years... so I am comfortable trusting him to run the crane whilst I am in the tree. I was just doing a little shrub pruning job yesterday ($150) and the customer just happens to be into electronics... so for that plus my adding on 1 fert job on a kousa dogwood he is going to come and take digital video and pics of the job and then edit it and put it on some DVD's for me.

The trees are all the better part of 80' tall. There are 2 which go over a guy's house, evergreen shrubs (which he doesn't want to damage) and there is just no LZ... plus good amount of root damage. The other 2 really don't need a crane, but I figure if the crane is RIGHT there, I might as well.

Well, I just did the 2 hard ones over the past 2 days (2 days due to utility line issues. The hardest tree was done today in 1 1/2 hrs once the lines were dropped... no crane :(

Crane jobs are the best. especially on tough removals! Having a consistent crane company with the same operators is critical to comfort. Also having an experienced cranengineer prodding you along is very helpful. Everyone needs to experience tree work from a crane at least once. I have recently been blessed with a couple of really great crane rides. And I can't wait for the next.
