First cabling job

Tom, am I happy that you posted first. Before scrolling down to your post I was planning on actually going to make a serious reply. Ah what the heck. The happy chappy that did that cabling was probably afraid that the one tree was going to run UP the hill. /forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

It wasnt me.... /forum/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

I did however give advice for cabling a oak in our region. A 100+ year oak about ø 100cm. A main trunk that rizes 3.5 meters and then one center upgoing limb and 5 heavy upgoing sidelimbs (all about ø50cm). There are two limbs wrapped together about 1.5 meter from the trunk out. Looks like sturdy attachments but i suggest cabling/pruning to be sure in the future. Again lots of buidings, houses and gardens under it. (about 8 different neighbours were the tree can cause serious damage when it fails) When they call for an estimate ill post some pics of it, its a interesting one i believe.

You got me Tom a landscapping customer called me in to evaluate this support system for one of their customers. Another tree company installed this contraption at the time of construction. It looked like the dune was disturbed close to the maple so I installed a cable between the maple and one of the oaks. After the cable was installed I removed all of the straps and chains. I hust couldn't pass up the oppurtunity to take pictures of something like this /forum/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

That's what I figured :)

Would it be OK if I downloaded the pics for possible use in a cabling presentation? It's always fun to have examples of Gomer the Cabler jobs too.
