Final bury on a double braid splice

I am very new to splicing and have been working on putting an eye on the ends of my climbing lines. Currently I am working with poison ivy and I am having the hardest time getting the cover to milk over the splice in the final bury. I have watched many videos on this and it looks so easy but I am having a hell of a time getting it done.

Are there any tips or tricks to doing this to make this an easy process?

Not in this instance. I tried used rope on my first splice out of ignorance and had so much trouble with it from the beginning that I came on here only to find that used rope is very hard to splice. Since then I have only tired on new rope. I have made some real nice looking splices but they take me hours and I have a terrible time getting them done. even ended up with blisters on my hand trying to milk that final splice. Thanks

Hammer and massage them until they behave. If it gets difficult, stop, then hammer and massage, and proceed. If you need to force, it's probably wrong.
