Figure Eights??

I'm wondering what you guys use for a figure 8. Standard, heart, standard w/ ears, the Petzl Pirhana. Right now I'm using the Petzl Pirhana, but I've found the hole where you clip your biner into is really small, fitting only Petzl krabs, and even at that, it has almost no wiggle room at all. Anyone else have this problem with the Pirhana if you use it, and if so, do you use adifferent Petzl krab or connect it differently.

You can actually take a round file and grind it out some to better accomodate other krabs. Just make sure it's only the rubber grommet.

Thanks guys!! Never planned to scrap it. The few times I've used it so far, it has been a great figure 8. Just don't have enough of the right biners to dedicate one to it. I really have to order a few more!!!

Moss has used a particular epoxy to make some custom setups. If you have another favorite eight you could fill in the small hole with epoxy then drill/file out the hole to fit your biner.

Like FT says, custom fit the Pirhana. It shouldn't take much to file away the extra plastic.

CMI Rescue 8, though I'm really thinking about going to a micro-rack.

Micro-rack way better than any 8. Get one with a hyper bar for sure.

Yeah, definitely want the hyperbar, though for my situation there will probably be little use for me. Let me 'splain.

Basically I've converted my LJ to have an extendable tether so I can use it like a sport while working and as a twin while climbing and rappelling.

Consequently , to preserve my clutch I've run a munter off my saddle w/ biner and let the LJ run free. The munter causes too much twist and the 8 is too large. But both make my decents much smoother, quicker and with less abuse on my LJ or FH.

So, mini rack would be perfect. Since I don't remove my LJ for friction hitch the mini alone would be fine. otherwise, Yes, hyperbar will be critical.
