favorite light-duty rigging line?

Oh... an added note: Twice I've broke an old piece of Safety Blue Hi-V climbing rope while rigging... hmmm...

I would never use 1/2" for heavier rigging applications, to me as soon as a block is involved it "feels" natural to beef up the line to 3/4", preferably stable or double braid depending on the situation.

I use 1/2" 16 strand, but my replacement will be xtc12 5/8" (16mm). Slips through a porty better and is resilient enough to use natural crotch where required. It also lends itself nicely to the versatiliy of my rigging systems.

That was a nice tip Ekka - I hadn't thought of that. I find the rope twists worse if the groundy doesn't unhook the rope between lowers, just trys to pull it through the device...grrr!

If you use your old climb lines for light rigging as most of us do, be sure to mark them in some way, I use red electrical tape on all rigging ropes and slings. Everyone on the crew knows if they see red it's for rigging ONLY and not life support.

thanks for all the replies guys. maybe i'll just buy me a hank of safety blue new and make it for light lowering. never had a problem of any kind with that rope, and it's rated high enough (new) for light rigging.
cheers!

Nothing wrong with safety blue, I have used it for quite some time. I recently nicked a piece plum in half (as usual) and I haven't replaced it, instead I went to Stable braid, which I perfer but it shouldn't be used natural crotch style, like safety blue can.

Arbor plex is great for light rigging. It is so cheap you almost cannot go wrong with it. With a 600lb WLL works just fine when it is needed.
