"Fancy" whipping/stiching

Re: \"Fancy\" whipping/stiching

It's the same as a standard sailmakers whipping, but do the frapping turns at angles instead of perpendicular to the wrapping turns.

Re: \"Fancy\" whipping/stiching

More importantly, that's Rich's signature whipping technique. If you attempt to replicate it, he will use black magic to make sure all your future splices get hopelessly fuddled to the point where they cannot be completed.

Re: \"Fancy\" whipping/stiching

As someone with a healthy respect for juju, I'll research this "standard sailmakers whipping." Like I said...been just using the samson whipping instructions....anything is fancy when you only know one way to skin a cat.

Re: \"Fancy\" whipping/stiching

Oops... sorry Rich. Please don't black magic me... I've been using your signature whip/stich since you showed at the symposium in may. It just looks cool. But also it runs through the center of the rope 5 or 6 times creating a very secure finish to your splice.
