f-600 ford any good?

Not build for comfort for sure. I drove one for a year and its build like a brick sh!t house. Turning radius sucks big time but you don't buy a 600 for it to turn on a dime. It takes a bit to get used to backing it up but over all its good. I was never worried about going forward. I drove an automatic. Hope that helps.

Seems a little over priced for a 96, but what do I know about buying trucks?

I drove a similar year/weight Ford 600 quite a bit and did not like it. Under powered and cheaply built IMO.

Having said that, this one looks like a decent truck, could be worth a test drive if it was closer.

Can't remember the exact models, but way back when we had two Ford's, a chip truck and a small crane/boom truck. Both were pieces of crap. Always had something wrong with them. I believe at least the chip truck was an F600, but I could be wrong.

I have owned and operate this type of Ford truck for 20 years. I have run the 600s, 700s, and 800s. All are good trucks if properly maintained! The F600 is probably a little "light" for that size chip box. Do you know if that truck has the 370 4V gas engine or the 5.9L cummins? Is it air brake or hydraulic? The air brake systems are very dependable, the hydraulic brake systems are sometimes not (they used a system designed by Lucas Gurling Mfg. that was overly complex and problematic). What is the GVW?

Yea,definitely find out if it has the lucas brake system! They can be very problematic and expensive to fix.In fact most of the time it's cheaper to put in a different rear end with a different brake system, than it is to fix the lucas stuff.I know this from personal experience. When the lucas system works it's a good system, but when it doesn't,be ready to get out the check book.I'm not sure if the f600 was available with a 5.9 cummins,i have an f800 with the 5.9 I've had good luck with it it's a well understood engine at this point because it's been around quite a while. If it's a gas,I think all of ford's industrial gas engines are fairly bulletproof. That's my 2 cents

I plow municipal roads with a truck darn near exactly like that. It has the 5.9 Cummins and a 6 speed in it. Truck seems to have more grunt that our '05 F-650 with a C-7 cat in it. It should have juice brakes as it says it's a non-CDL truck. The 5.9 engine is a good dependable engine. I haven't driven it with more than 2.5 tons of salt in the back so i can't say how it would be with chips and a chipper in tow. The guy that owns the truck bought a sweet Pete to tow his backhoe with, he did say it struggles towing a Case 580 backhoe. It's probably a deisel as the ad says powerful.
