Evaluation of Current Rigging Practices

I glance through this a few weeks ago. Seems quite the thorough document. I did have something that I feel pretty strongly that was not included. I will be trying to make the thought as coherent as possible in a future post. We had a failure in 2006 that brought me to the conclusion that trees only provide support for their exposure. In other words, they do not provide a "safety factor" as has been the conventionally taught principle. The thought has to do with the ways in which the loads are applied and absorbed in the tree. I need to spend a few hours with this document to make certain that what I contend was not covered. It has implications in a few areas of arboriculture, so I want to make sure the idea is clear.
