I just don't pity those who say they coulda, woulda, shoulda.

Good luck at Wal-Mart

That's good. I agree and feel the same. If you were under the impression I was looking for pity, rest easy. I don't want none.

What's going on at Wal-Mart? I don't shop there much; am I missing something? Was there some special flyer today I need to be aware of?

I'll be in it in another week and a half. Visit anytime!

Now I know what it feels like to be the client with desirable trees overhanging the house. Happy Thanksgiving Norm.

Ditto on the SMA; can't imagine being a uf and not being in sma. the magazine city trees has some good stuff in it; watch out in jan for one on root pruning. ;)

"Thank you all for the good advice, today was the day and all went very well. More to follow, I will keep you posted."

No idea what this means. How about a clue?

I just got a nice new truck and lap top for my mobile office, found the software I want. I did have a look at the SMA web site, with all that went down this past week I think I will coast and try to fly under their radar for a few weeks.

[/ QUOTE ]I don't think SMA is organized enough to have radar, and if they did I don't know what they would be looking for. Still do not understand what it is you are doing there.

Guy for the past two years I had been trying to educate one of the supervisors in our department about safety prunung and hazardous tree evaluation with no success, at this point in time I have taken my findings to some of the others with very good results. This super likes to micro manage his way into every aspect of our department. Yours truly is the new guy on the block so with all due respect I gave him his space, this was a mistake on my behalf. The work we do as Arborists needs to be taken seriously. The city I work for has never had a Arborist on there staff so it`s a learning experience for both of us.

[/ QUOTE ]Thanks for that much clarification; sounds like an interesting time of transition there. I still don't understand just what the changes are in tree risk assessment and mitigation; are you trying to bring in new ways of handling tree risk, other than the old choice between monitoring and removing?

If so, are you familiar with Gilman's site here? http://hort.ifas.ufl.edu/woody/pruning/

Look under Structural, and also see the powerpoints for some very good ed. material that can persuade the underinformed. Buying the book is a great investment too; some folks don't believe anything unless they see it in print.
