ECHO YES or NO??

My Ms200T is being shipped back to me from overseas, while I am waiting for it I thought I'd get an Echo as an inexpensive alt.to use in the meantime.
ANyone have any feedback on these saws? are they /forum/images/graemlins/9lame.gif

the echo top handle is not bad. I think its a 3000 model???? Just take down the rakers and remove the spark arrestor. Good, reliable and cheap. Not very powerful, but light and good for pruning.

The MS200T add in Arborist News is how I found out about treebuzz. I saw the sticker on yer helmet. THats you Mark Chisholm. You're a celebrity!!! HAHAHa.
Im interested in your company Mark, can you send me some info?

If your used to an ms200 you'll throw that 192 out of the tree. my boss bought one last summer. it just goes from truck to truck, no one wants to use it. our groundies even laugh at it.

just buy another ms200 and you'll always have a back up. there are no bargains in chainsaws, you get what you pay for.

I disagree! The 192 is a most excellent trim saw, great for the little stuff and a tad lighter packing it around in the tree.

How many tanks of fuel have you put through one?

Echo is a great back up for your hand saw if you don't need a load of power and your just cuting 4 inch dead wood. You can't beet the price for doing light work. Our crew does'nt even carry chain saws on a normal day any more. We switched to silky handsaws. Imagine that! A nice quiet day geting paid to climb trees and not waking up anyones baby.

I have one of the new Echo 360 top-handle saws. There is no substitute for an 020T/MS-200 period!

However the new Echo isn't a bad saw at all. Once the muffler is opened up and the carb retuned!

I trimmed 2 live oaks with it, barely over one tank.

What is your point?

I have a 192T that was modded by Ed Heard. In small wood, it is great, prolly about as fast as a 200T with the muffler screen still in. love the weight....it's great for pruning. I have the light bar and narrow chain on it, real wimpy, light duty stuff, but the weight is nice, and it cuts fast enough. When the bar wears, I'll see if I can fit some normal .050 chain on...

My guess is, the now hard to find Echo 340 would be faster, as it is about 3.5 cc larger...but it weighs the same as my 335/338's....one of which still easily beats my 200T, though it does have the muffler opened up more.

Over the years I have used several small Echos- all of them performed reliably if not spectactularly. My currently most used climbing saw is a little Echo CS3000. Very light and a good performer.-It isn't a 200T or 338 but it is very light weight, handles nicely and is quite nice for pruning work or light removals.

I myself use a 192 and i love it. I'm a small guy so the light weight and short bar is right up my alley for pruning. Unless you tune it though keep the 12" bar. I have found that stock it doesn't have enough power to use a 14" bar efficently.
