not always. I thread my throwline through first then tie to the splice and yank it through....

That is what I started doing when I first got it. After some good usage, I'm able to force it in without the throw line...

these things seem great for SRT usage. there is a lot of rubbing and chafing that goes on in srt that these types of tools really fix well. I love the leather tube and these things look pretty slick. Jamin, I found that in conifer was the one place where the leather tube didnt work very well because the rope inevitably gets sticky from other places in the tree. and then would stick and pull the tube out the crotch in dDRT. How do you not let that happen?
