Drones for line setting?

Anybody ever use a drone for line setting? If so, which model? My brother mentioned he saw it online. I would be smitten if there were a cheapish beater drone that works well for this

You can probably find a used Phantom 3 online, and purchase a remote release kit. That should get you rolling, I wouldn't call them beaters though, they're not too hard to smash

I imagine that the skill and time required for drone use has to rival traditional methods. Not to mention the price of a mistake. A bad throw that gets stuck in the wrong tree means a slightly shorter line and a new throw ball. I’d hate to think what I’d spend on fixing a drone.

I know some guys use them for palms, but flying through a canopy usually ends up with a stuck drone. Best lesson I've learned flying is keep my climbing gear close.... and I tend to resort to the throwball for stuck drones.

Also, I'd hate to think what a mess a throwline caught in one or more motors would make.

I sure love my drones, but I prefer throwballs for access.
