Double tie-in point technique

I was looking at the way I set my ( not taking ownership) M up and noticed something. The side in the picture I posted that has no hitch, if there was to be a hitch there and that side failed there would still be a large drop. It has not happended to me so I might be wrong about this. The way it looks to me is that the hitch on the failing side would meet the pulley having nothing to keep tension until all rope runs through to the bowline.

My ? is what has anyone done to solve this while still keeping a smooth system?

I have never used that technique either. Often, I just use a single climb line and tie in with both ends, as others have mentioned. These days, if a tree is so big it requires two full length climblines to tie in and work, I'll probably just go surfing instead.

i wish could go surfing. you're a lucky man speelyei. i have to disagree about the two climbing lines though; sometimes climbing in stereo is the only way to fly. i not saying i do that everyday but cabling a big codom is alot easier that way.
ok fairfield the only way to stop that from happening is to use two different systems on one hitch climber instead of the m you'll find this just as fast if not faster to reeve and more controllable. if you are looking at your hitch climber hole one is the top hole by your hitch, hole 2 is the middle hole, hole three is where you tie in with the crab that attaches the prussic. so move your rope termination from hole 2 to hole 1, then take the tail of you rope and make a closed system with a short tail blakes over a suitable crotch, clove hitch to a crab get out dog snap and micro pulley put on crab, attach crab to hole 2 in hitch climber. i use this to do tension traverses sometimes all you need is a pantin to help tend slack.

actually, we are in total agreement. two climblines is a good way to go. my comments were more self-deprecating in nature, meaning I have gotten so lazy and weak that if a jobs big I'll skip it.
I wish I could just go surf whenever... Oregon will never be confused for Malibu!
