DIY APTA using bazooka style bead blaster

The butterfly valve is the same size as the pipe, it bumps air fast! Of course the throw bag will slow down at some point but it is the velocity it leaves the barrel, which increases with the increasing psi. that will determine the eventual height gains.

Here is my big game rifle. Coming in around 7 ft long I can consistently hit crotches well over 150 foot. Because of its length you shoot it like a mortar so the accuracy is much better than the over the shoulder style of my APTA from TS. The silky smooth valve also adds to its accuracy.

Rico, did you copy my design?;) Just kidding- I copied it from someone else too.

I initially included a red dot sight, but the curve of the sight mount didn’t match the curve of the barrel. Wouldn’t stay put. Still very accurate to about 90 feet without a sight. I made it long to use mortar style, but find myself shooting over the shoulder more often. The valve is indeed a Milwaukee butterfly. Works perfectly. Engineering a “trigger” valve just wouldn’t be worth it for me. I just use a bike pump to air it up. Certain number of pumps equals a certain height. You get to know it.

common ground bro

Found a great cordless inflator on Amazon for $29 that uses the same batteries as my DeWalt DIY power ascender and my little DeWalt cordless chainsaw. It pumps up my air launcher in less than a minute and weighs next to nothing. The inflator actually weighs less than the battery. In the photo is one of my custom throw bags with a round flat bottom, to fit the bore of the air launcher. Obviously, if the air leakage around the bag is minimized, it vastly improves the range. The barrel of the launcher unscrews from the sprinkler valve and trigger to make a more compact carry.
