I did a demo on a sk3000. I was really excited about this machine but it was sort of disappointing. Ditch witch missed the mark on it. It's very big but underpowered. It's a 59hp machine but really needs to be in the mid 60 range. Bogged down unloaded going up a modest hill. I have a sk1550 , which is an awesome machine, and I expected the sk3000 to be close to double what the 1550 because it's close to double the size. It isn't even close. I really don't think it's capacity is what they advertise either. It'll lift 3k pounds but the problem is that it needs a bigger grapple (600- 800 lb grapple) which takes away from it's lift capacity. It's also very expensive ( almost $80k for just the machine) .
Overall, I'm looking at a Giant wheel loader. I need a bigger machine with more capacity, but I really don't see the sk3000 being that much more capable than the 1550, especially at the price point. At the same price, I can get into a bigger Giant loader , which I can drive on lawns with turf tires, more speed, more lift, same hinge height . I guess the real advantage to the sk3000 is it's compact with 360 visibility, which is nice, but it's also less machine because there is no cab ext... Pound for pound, The sk1550 is a way more capable machine than the sk3000 .
