Dead Sugar Maple

Hey taylor
I would say that is the most alive I ever feel. the cold, the snow and high rpms in your hands. Love it!

Was the Tree weight removed from limbs and tops
and left as habitat. Looked to be largest tree in the stand.
Pileated Woodpecker prefers conifers for nesting and a few Owl species prefer Hardwood. Still it would be a good food source for the micro and macro fauna.

We forget sometimes-me included that in our efforts to protect people we are sacrificing another life form. Either way it needs to be said more often, we need to retain dead wood and dead trees as much as possible

Just lookin out for ol Woody.

I like to give clients the option of giving the tree a shake down 1st and then mitigate the hazaard potential.
Cable tree to swing away from traffic zone is another good one if you are looking for other options

Offered to hoist back up and suspend a few cavities aswell.
Any of these add to the Karma factor.

Cheers

I would have left the stem as habitat. However, I was a contract climber on this job, so the decision was already made to fell it. This wooded area is private property on an island. During the summer there is much foot traffic through this area and the client did not want to leave the stem standing.

Nice Taylor, looked like a shorter bar on that 362, that sucker was rippin'!

20" bar on the 362.

25" bar on the 460.

Both saws were cutting a little strangely. I hit a rock a bit ago with that 362 chain but thought I had it ironed out... maybe not. The bars are a couple years old and I've dressed them once or twice already. May be time for new bars.
