Crane Sling Hooks

I'm not hating those hooks at all. I just feel that anything with a possibility to unintentionally come undone needs a back up unless there's nothing to damage or injure below. I was just commenting that it looked like there was nothing to come close to in that picture so you could afford a little movement when you cut the piece, that's all. Nothing wrong with the picture.

yes and yes, chris. the slings good for like 11.2 choked. but yes same set up you were running with up in mayer land. our slings are 14ft though.

how the elbow?

Elbow is coming along slowly oldirty, thanks for asking. It's been one month as of yesterday.

Just wondering, have you guys tried the Gunnebo hooks with flat eye-to-eye slings in the past, or just the poly round ones that we were using with Mayers?

Are they totally friendly on a flat sling? And you haven't had even the slightest issue, ever?

Good question Reg and yes they are. Last month, I specifically checked with the engineering department at Gunnebo Johnson, who manufactures the hooks as well as with the technicians over at the Lift-ALL Slings manufacturing facility.

I specifically asked them whether the Hooks could be SAFELY used with flat eye-to-eye slings and with flat round slings, in a choker hitch lift, as we use in the tree care industry. They both told me, absolutely that they could be used in that application. I asked this only because I know that some tree guys still use these types of slings.

I did not get into specifics about whether the hooks should be backed up with a second sling and hook, or if spider legs should be used. I guess we’ll have to leave that up to the individual rigger’s level of comfort and experience.
