Crane nearly flipped over

looked like based on the boom angle and the size of that load, with no dynamic force factored in or sunken outrigger, it was too much weight for a cherry picker. that is a crane size pick there.

That looks like a decent sized boom! What is the rating on it?As I recall you have mentioned in the past working regular with 17 and 23 ton units. It does look like a lot of boom extended out.

Wow, glad no one was hurt. BTW, how did they go about lifting the crane? Seems like once the crane was lifted to a certain point by another crane, it would go over the balance point and right itself very quickly, too quickly. Did they have some kind of rigging set up to keep it from overcorrecting? Maybe with the crane line itself. Just curious. Thanks.

Suprisingly, it didn't flip over hard when they righted it. I wasn't there, but that's what they told me. They said it came over smooth and slow.

Unbelievable post MB! No injuries, property dmg., crane still in one piece (although i don't think i'd want to work from it again!) I've got a feeling he'll call MB next time!

It looks like a terex 4482 which is a 22 ton, 85' of boom. It doesn't have rear out and down stabilizers like the terex 4792 has, the 4482 has just down rear stabilizers. That limits the load chart away from the truck, it didn't help in this situation.

we had a guy here in NJ with a similar crane. Same thing happened but when the crane started to come over he thought that standing on the outrigger would save it. He's no longer alive as a result.
