Courant Squir

On my 60 meter rope I milked about 2 feet off the end, and that was really going at it hard. Not that much. I remember being somewhat impressed.
The Kalimba is about on par with HTP in terms of static. A little too static for my liking, but I do like the way the Zigzag runs on it. Has enough grip, but smooth going.
The odd cover weaving throws me a bit. Seems like the tension on one or more of the weaves is off, but maybe it is done on purpose. Just looks odd to me. Doesn't seem to be a problem at all however. Could be just an odd weave I am not familiar with.
I do like the way the rope performs, just wish it was a little more stretchy than it is. I am a MRS person most of the time and I prefer a tad more shock absorption.
I don't know if we're talking about the same thing, but the weave is different on the pink dragon version, at least different from what I am used to seeing on 32 strand. The hank I got from arbsession with a sewn eye they stitched absolutely wouldn't milk for me at all. I know how to milk a rope and it gave me about a quarter inch off a 150'. I am guessing they milked it at arbsession when they put the eye on it? I felt weird after the fourth attempt at milking.

Yeah, I think you are correct. Just a different weave pattern than I am use to seeing. I had not studied it that well and just thought something was off on a strand tensioner. Now I see that it is a weave I have not seen before and it looks consistent throughout the rope. Maybe it has some advantage. Maybe they just want to be different. Who knows.

One last question before I do something stupid.. How is the hand on the squir? Does it feel like 11.5, or does it run small or large? Thanks in advance

It feels like a true 11.5. The hand is very nice for knots. Very little elongation. Runs super smooth on all the devices.

It looks and feels like my old puffed up Sterling 11mm, and I'd wager true to size. It looks a hair bigger than the Beal 11mm I just got at the same time.

I have yet to soak and wash mine. Gonna go do that now. It does seem a little slick still to me, but it was running like silk in the zigzag with a caralink+zk2.

You guys pushed me over the edge.. Just ordered a 656 ft hank with a stitch eye on each end. Will cut the hank in half and get two 328 ft climbing lines, which is the ideal length for my work. Payed a total of $369, which comes out to around 55 cents a foot, and that includes the splices...An amazing deal in this time of crazy inflation and overpriced everything. Love me some Maple Leaf Ropes, and will be a customer for as long as I remain in this game...

I am doubtful Courant can make a proper static rope with all the CE bullshit. Now this rope is static. Have 3 hanks I like it so much. Great on your hands, knots well, wears well, loves wrench and runners. Ticks my boxes. Screenshot_20240101_145633_Samsung Internet.jpg20240101_145924.jpg

I think wesspur sells this as drayer statx. I have some, it’s stated as 11.5 but really more like 11.8, and yes that stuff I think is the most static on the market at 1.2% elongation for a climbing line.

I'm eager to try my recently acquired rrp on it, as it shows much promise, but I'm quickly getting hung up on how smooth it runs on Beal 11mm Access. I'm eager to compare, but work has been slow.
the RRP would be smoooth on fucking barb wire and I’m pretty sure its gonna fly on some squir. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it.

I just ran it on a friend's 16 strand, I think tuefelberger hi vee, and it was like driving on the rumble strip down the side of the highway. I will be making sure to carry extra ropes to work with them from now on in case they wanna set me up in multiple trees while I work.
