cooling power of wood

I got a bunch of logs milled a few weeks ago. Today I stood next to the pile of wet stickered wood and it felt like standing next to an airconditioner. Awesome. Just thought id share a pleasant experience.

What type of wood, may I ask.

Ash, cherry, black locust, honey locust, spruce, white pine, siberian elm, ailanthus, box elder, white cedar, a small chunk of walnut, mulberry, pear.... thats all for now

sounds like one of those " air coolers "

they work really well in dry climates by using evaporation, can drop temps by 10 - 20 degrees..

wouldnt work down here right now though, humidity is through the roof. going outside in the heat of the day is like walking into a bathroom after somebody just took a hot shower

How does that happen? I though wood was exothermic as is a pile of woodchips.
