any cash, that they feel the have coming,probly same in RI
A kwick search through your state stautes would reveal the
LAW but you would still have to check caselaw to see how precident is treated in the courts. Out here in the midwest its a little less syfisticated and you only need to have insurance if someone asks for it. Not to mention the employee/subcontractor relationship but I have fought both sides of this through the system and won (the money)and the judges favor, as in "no I was your employee" or "no Im a sub contractor" there is about six things in my state that ditingush the differance ,and yes eqipment is a big one. In the end its up to a judge and they will want to see a contract (something in writing) bid, proposal, invoice
Thats where you get to make your own law. Its not a bad idea to fill the back of your contract with a boiler plate of very small font, or at least spell it out in plain language on the front. Either way will work and the judge relizes your just trying to make a living, but if your stupid (not clear) you will get screeeewroood.
