Tom the treeman brought up Constant Contact to me in a forum a few weeks back. I checked into it and thought it looked pretty interesting. This past Thursday, I went to a seminar in San Francisco that they put on, which not only covered how to use their product, but also a crash course in email marketing. I learned a lot of good stuff, and even learned that some of the stuff I have been doing in the past could be considered "spam" type email. Clearly, I was not spamming, but it is interesting to understand what defines spam.
I have signed up with Constant Contact, and am about to prepare my first email campaign using their service. I will try to remember to follow up with results to let you all know what kind of success rate I had with it.
One interesting thing I also learned: Email marketing is designed to keep in contact with your existing clients, not to establish new ones.
The service itself is pretty affordable. It is based on the number of email addresses you import into the program. I imported around 1200, and I think the cost is around $30 a month.
Anyone else out there try using this?
