Cone Collection in Pacific Northwest

Was just out in central Washington taking photos of cones. Here's a White Fir.

These trees were shot near Roslyn, which was where the location of the Northern Exposure TV show was shot. Here's a downtown mural.

Nice article OX.. A true service to the industry and the trees.. Great Job

I just spent a week in Oregon, flew into Portland, drove to Ashland for the Shakespeare fest... and then up to Eugene and back to Skamania WA right on the Columbia.. Sweet time on that river. My girl has a summer house there. She's a climber too.. had her up a few times back east. Might have to take her cone pickin next year, just for fun..

Here's a quick question for ya... If a tree is going to get logged, why not just blow the top out and pick up the cones on the ground? Do they need the green to cushion the fall and preserve the log?

Sounds like a nice tour of the NW, Daniel.

Those foresters are picky about knowing the source of the seed. They want to be sure the genetic material doesn't get contaminated by an unknown species.

Harvesting occurs during fire season, so explosives are out.
