Melissa Duffy is developing a clothing line that will include fleece-lined bras. Her website is not published yet, but the address is:

Hopefully it's up and running soon. I think my wife would like a fleece-lined bra for Christmas! ;-)

YES! I spoke with Melissa in Newport. I picked up a nice t-shirt from her. It's perfect...it's black, and it says 'arborist' on it. What else would you want in a t-shirt?

We also spoke about a custom pair of climbing pants for me since it is next to impossible for me to get a pair that fit me properly. I'm really happy that she is focusing on using local materials and craftsmanship. Can't wait to get mine!

Lined coveralls for an outer layer can be amazing cheap for the amount of warmth they create.

Just got a Cabela's top and it's got a 5 inch cuff with a thumb hole. Pretty neat option. Keeps the sleeves in place as you add layers and becomes a 1/2 glove with your digits exposed.

Climbing nearly everyday in all weather here in the Northeast I find:

1. Socks - Darn Tough rule

2. LJ's - Minus 33 or TP Bamboo (haven't found a source in the US just in Europe)

3. Boots - Keen Summits (a little bulky, but my toes are happy!)

4. Hat - Ibex wool beanie cap (they make great merino undies too!)

5. Neck Gaitor - Fleece

:)

Happy (warm) Climbing!

Florida! Wa!

x2 on the neck gaitor and x2 on the UA Coldgear. I really like the UA for a base layer because it's got that plastic liner on the inside on the bottom of top that tucks way in and grips on the outside of your longies so when you're reaching up the frigid air doesn't get a superhighway up your back.

Neg two is the high here tomorrow. Another smart choice is to stay home and drink (hot chocolate) by the fire....

I'm thinking Roxy has the right idea about the fire/hot chocolate thingy. I'm putting off climbing until Friday when we get way back in the balmy 20's! Luckily I have a few woodland management jobby jobs to do, one that includes a day long bonfire to dispose of the brush.

I'm happy in the Marmots.

Minus two eh. But it gets warm in the summer? I'm a lover of the winter.

Hey Jersey Girl,
I lived in Whitefish for 4 years skiing and working trails in Glacier National Park. The underlayers that worked best for me were Minus 33 (merino baby soft wool) and Smartwool base layers.
For outerlayers, a Puffy or down jacket under a windproof layer is wonderful above the waist. Also, I truly adore my Mountain Hardware Monkey man over both the puffy and thin windblocker for those really cold days.
I even wear those layers for climbing trees.

Best of luck to her new adventure!

I rock a hooded second layer every day when it's cold, REI has a bunch. I feel like the heat transfer from body to head makes all the difference.
Stuff like this.....

Another thing I like to do is wear base layers with pockets, I have no shame in slipping a hand warmer into a pocket to keep my core warm. Sometime when I don't have a pocket i'll just drop one down my shirt after I put my saddle on.
