Cold Weather Is Hear ???W

Thanks again, Jim/ I wanted to see Vikings spank the Hawks w/ the ole' timer & the helm. If I get near the cities I'll give ya a shout, how about weight in the back of a pickup for traction/ if yes how much ?

I tried those electric socks,
but my extension cord was only 50
feet long, so I couldn't climb the really tall
trees. Movin' to Montana soon; going to be a
dental floss tycoon.

My forecast has been crappy lately...

http://www.9news.com/weather/forecast/

My coldness threshold is anything below 20° is not worth it. At least, not worth climbing in trees. I suppose felling trees and a lot of ground work would keep the extremities warm...

I hate having to put in extra time for the layers, driving slower to jobs, finding a decent place to park sucks because of the snow build up, cones get brittle and crack, latex on gloves stick to aluminum, touching cold tree limbs finally get to your hands, and let's face it, spreading eagle in the trees isn't the warmest of experiences for the man parts

The list goes on... But, having work to schedule is nice right now. So, I'll stop whining...

But, the recent Colorado weather has led me to consider plowing and shoveling for extra income.

In Wisconsin (home of the Packers),
we're expecting up to 14 inches of
snow by noon tomorrow. Then it's gonna
drop down to about 5 above zero.
My snowblower started on the first pull
yesterday (just planning ahead). My freezer
is chocked full of venison (I got 2 bucks).
Bring it on baby ....

..and the barley pop is stacked like cordwood on the top shelf of the fridge!

I'm with Boston. Smartwool 365 days, every day. However, for the last two years I have been wearing the WOOLPOWER underwear that are in the Sherrill catalog. Great stuff! I was really impressed with the fit and finish of the product. Especially the the crewneck. Keeps you warm, breathes, and no itching.

Jim, you still wear those AW bibs?

[/ QUOTE ] I am. Do you carry them Russ? I need to size up for my extra layers.

Smartwool, merino, casmere, silk, polypropylene, fleece, gortex.

Gortex is a shell material but how would you rate the other choices from best to least best?

It's 3 above zero with a wind chill
of minus 24. I'm going to go and sit
up in a treestand and try to get some
venison for my brother. Deer tend to move
around a bit more when it's like this because
they gotta stay warm and they need to eat.
I can dress warm enough, the biggest problem
for me when it's like this is that my eyes
are constantly watering. Maybe I'll bring some
safety glasses although they fog up. Guess I'll
just squint (go ahead , make my day...)

I'm looking at Sierra Trading Post. This is a link to their socks...They have stuff discounted all of the time.

I'm going to buy 5 pair of tube liner socks and 5 pair of Smart Wool socks for both my employee and myself.

I figure it this way: It is a small investment to keep us working in the cold weather. Otherwise, we loose time sitting in the truck to warm up our toes.
