Close tolerance removal

Here is a black oak that I had to remove last week. There was very little room to work but it all came down well.

funny Mark I went up in the bucket to set up the drift line. I took the pictures on the way down to get my climbing stuff and then went back up to start the removal. it took a while to set up the drive was so tigh that we had to unload everything that we needed in the street. then back in the lift. i had to climb out the window because none of the doors would open.

Too close to the house anyway, plus, the customer needed some firewood and you needed some money and it made some great pics.

Ekka, I drilled the tree about 4-5 years ago and the results showed that the decay was not very extensive. Then the homeowner noticed that it looked alot worse. I drilled it again and I guess I misinterpreted the results. /forum/images/graemlins/confused.gif

It did look a lot worse from the outside!

Great rigging. It's hard to beat a nearby tree for hanging a block.

Nice job Brian. I love those jobs where multiple ropes are used.
Based on that pic, we would have removed that tree as well.

I agree, that tree looked liked it really needed to come down and your rigging plan and hazard assesment was very well done. Nice pics too!

Nice job To tell you the truth I would have put a crane on it. But you seemed to do alright without one. Now come to mention it could you even get one close enough to use it?

I could not use one at all for the top. I could get a large crane close enough but there were to many trees in the way to be able to do clean picks. When I originally bid the job I was going to bring in a crane for the trunk but everything was going so well I just decided to go ahead and rig it down.
