Climbing saw recommendations

I agree with Collins tree- the 020 was a better saw. Less pollution crap? The one thing with it though is that anoying little vent in the fuel tank. I left the saw sit for too long in a tool box in it's back up role and the rubber bits wore out and that sucker just pours petrol out the vent. It is being repaired for the umteenth time. Back to the original- yes the stihl is far superior. I have owned several of the huskys and I end up giving them away or decorating a corner of the shop with them.

I have switched over to pretty much all Husky saws but I use the 200T for my climbing saw. I tried for years to avoid buying a 200T, went through the other brands and even paid to have a few ported. But a stock 200T is hands down the best climbing saw bar none. I hate the boxy frame, despise the stupid $12 caps that leak if you look at them wrong, can't stand forking over $16 for a stupid air filter and $21 for a sprocket, but there is absolutely no other climbing saw that can touch it. Grit your teeth and pull your pants all the way down around your ankles and fork out the dollars for the 200T. You won't ever look back and you'll never want to use another climbing saw.

14" E-Lite bar here (another $55 but it balances out sooooo nicely).

That's gonna be my attitude when I break down and buy that $500 saddle, whenever it comes out.

My 335 Cali's keep up with 200T's when muffler modded, and my 335 that I got for $40 in pieces walks all over my 200T, and has done so reliably for over 2 years now. I far prefer the feel and shape of the Husky climb saw, which is also lighter. My lone 338 is a dog, relatively speaking, as it's been fully woods modded, yet stil lags all the others by a tad... As I have another brand new 335 Cali waiting to be needed, I hopefully will never have to try another 338....besides, the rumor is, Husky is coming out with a new design....

I always run 16 inch bars, which have never damaged a climb saw, and I've been climbing going on 32 years. I run 14" on my modded 192T....

But what happens if you mod the muffler on the 200? Not really a fair comparison, when you mod one and leave the other stock.

I saw one of these the other day are they any good? I like the price and weight better than the 200T but it is 5cc smaller.

If you take th screen out of a 200T, NO husky climbing saw will keep up with it, muff modded or not. I would dare to say it would give most Husky climbing saws woodsported a run for their money. Taking that screen out opens a lot power up on the 020/200.

The 192 is the lightest climbing saw on the market. it is a great TRIM saw. Anything past that and the 200T takes over.....but a good reliable saw, I hae had one for 2 years now.

Thanks, that is exactly what I wanted to know.

I just picked up a 192T the other day. I'd have gotten the 200T but they didn't have one in stock and I needed it right away. With the narrow-kerf chain the 192T ain't half bad and it do weigh next to nothing.

Do people go with Husky out of being stubborn?
I don't understand why anyone would take a second rate product just to save a few bucks.

All top handled saws i've tried have major inconsistencies! My ms200 had 2 carb rebuilds before i finally heaved it out of the tree (with first carefully checking below) in disgust. The first 335 i bought in 1994 still runs good but the next 3-4 335's were junk! The 338 is o.k. I've been thinking of trying another ms200 (maybe i just got a bad one) the new dolmar 3410 has great low end torque but the fuel tank is small (Ed Heard has it right now, i'll let you know about it when it comes back) I thought my husky 372 was a great saw until i got a Dolmar 7900. At 13.6 lbs. it has 6.3 H.P.!!! If you check, that blows anything Stihl or Husky makes in power to wght. ratio! I'm going to send it to EHP sometime soon to have it "done-up"

You won't be sorry. I have a 7900 done up by Ed and it rocks!
