ne meither, for lowering lines that is..more like 20+ for climb line.

How's that PSR 1/2 inch db working out Greg? Is it wearing well for ya?

I was given a 35 meter length of velosity to trial about six months ago, since starting to climb on it I am now reluctant to use my other 1/2 inch 16 stand ropes and will only do so if I absolutley have to use a longer rope.
After using the lighter rope anything else feels heavy to drag around the tree. It seems to be wearing well, I spend most of my time off the ground and after six months of abuse there is only minor damage (fluffing).
I look forward to having a climb on the blaze in the near future.

MB,,,I guess you been climbing longer than I ...I only used it for a couple years before I made the sitch to synthetics.

Roger...double braid is working out great....I might be needing more.... Today I was tagging over the remainder of a fir about 60' foot. It layed on part of the rope. i cut behind were I thought the rope stopped...Guess not...it was doubled up under the log and i nicked it with the chain. Lost about twenty feet ...[[what???]!I hate that... and that twenty feet is crucial when i'm doing conifirs...

johnmeiszner...

Still haven't picked one up yet... there's an Arbor Day shin-dig coming up here where some vendors will be present.
I might try Poison Ivy and/or The Fly... depends on which rope has the nicest feel in my hand compared to its elongation/stretch. I'm using the Samson Arbormaster stuff for now.

I have six ropes and for everyday work I like 11.5mm best. For competitions I like the 7/16, w. pretty colors. I buy a rope a year, but not cuz I need it. :)
I like to wait until the ITCC and see what the best of the best are using.

I don't see any reason (at least for me) to change.

I don't have a good reason either. For me its just a little something to look foreward to.

I don't blame you John. There's nothing like treating yourself to a new line every now and then.

I do that too, only I tend to do it with my rigging lines more often.

Ouch, Greg...

Let me know when you're ready for some more....mine is in fine shape.... it doesnt get used every day, as i use other lines, like cheap arborplex for light duty lowering and pulling (natural crotch etc) I might not mind having a 300 foot length, which would leave an odd length if you wanted 200' again...maybe some other folks would like to split a roll. Cost might be close to .60 a foot with price increases... this is for Puget Sound Ropes' polyester double braid 1/2 coated..not as long lasting a coating as Samson's Samthane ..but the price is right!! I also like the price on their DS Composite, a spectra core double braid, ideal for winching and pulling...and much cheaper than other products, mainly due to my contact who offers me such good deals.
