Hey No Bivy whats a good big wall boot? io used scarpas pro ascents last year, but they dont make them any more so I'm looking for something like them.

Plus they don't hold up well. I didn't like the support either.

Maybe try Boreal? I haven't but I thought about it.

Asolo 520 with goretex. Smooth all leather construction provides a lot of surface contact for footlocking, great underfoot support provides stability while climbing...comfortable enough to wear day to day.

Easy to resole. They are a "climbing boot" what more can you ask for. Trim fit, high performance, not a steel toe lunker.I have a year of abuse on mine. Reglued new dot rubber on twice. Beats the hell outta wesco or some other bulky junk. They are for climbing, simple as that.

Take em over a hiker when standing on spikes all day. Might be bulky but definately not junk. Last handmade boots in America everyone else is turning over to machines.

tried whites sold them after 2 months or so. I have been in Wescos for 6 years and dont plan on changing them for another brand. I have had my 16" highliners for all 6 years, on the 4th set of soles and NO rebuilds, have had my 10" pair of Highliners for almost 1.5 years and wont need soles for anohter 6 months to a year. great HANDMADE product!

Obenhaufs leather care is another reason my boots last so long...great product for Oil tanned leathers.

Yes I do most of the time ...Except when I know I'm going be prunning that day ...Although I use them for that as well. CAn foot lock in them , but it is more difficult untill you get used to the higher heel .

I got these this fall. I really like them. Stiff boot, but not too stuff. The sole still flexes a little. I hate standing in tight crotches and the arches of the feet getting hurt. That's why I use these because they take the tight crotches well. Great for footlocking too. I don't get any slip. La Sportiva Glacier

Thanks for all the suggestions,I currently climb in Asolo fugitive gtx but they dont last long at all.I used wesco probably 11 years ago and was very pleased.I really dont use spurs anymore so I want something lighter with not much of a heal.Anyone try La sportiva trango extreme?

This is the second winter I've used trango extremes. They a great boot and still have a lot of life in them. I just like a lighter, and less stiff boot for the summer.

Scarpa ProAscent, I not sure what the new model is. I have custom insert from a podiatrist since I have "froto" like feet. The inserts take of the spur problem. Boots are a personal preference, get what you like.

I have been using the Danner Elk Hunters for the past 8 years. If you work almost every day, they are good for about a year. The "bob" soles on the bottom are killer for griping on the tree when limb walking. They foot lock well also. They are very comfortable right out of the box, very little break in required. I guarantee you will be happy with these boots, although you might get sticker shock. They are sold only through cabellas.
