I use a product called de-solv-it. For carabiners and something small like a positioned, just fill a talenti ice cream jar, drop the piece in, cap it, and come back later. Gives carabiners that perfect snap when they come out. It hangs on a bit like a lubricant for a few days of use. Then you can add something else if needed. I had a couple carabiner get gummed up with pitch. After soaking them, they still have that perfect “plink” when closing. I’ve used it for rope runners, akimbos, even rope fiber.

THERE has been discussion of using ultra sonic cleaners. Ali Baba or Harbor Freight have one that would fit most of our small gear
