Chanisaw Pants in Trees

I wear the Pfanners here in Florida as do everyone that I work with. Summer and Winter. Anytime we are using saws, which is most days. !00 degrees and 95% humidity is hot even in a Speedo. I would never use a chainsaw while wearing my Speedo. I feel it's important to operate as a professional. It makes sense to offer myself and my co-workers as much protection as I can. We hydrate ourselves well as part of the plan and we do just fine in the "Air that you Wear" here in FLA.

I saw that Sherill smallest size of the pfanners is 37in waist. How would this work for a 32in waist?

Or a size 30 (31 in the winter, when I put on my winter weight).

I'm skeptic to buy any more Pfanners. I bought the stretch airs last year and they recently tore big time while deadwooding a hemlock.

Sounds like others get a lot of milage out of pfanner pants, but that was not the case for me.

I contacted sherrill which is where I bought them from and they said I am SOL.

I where the Gladiator saw pants everyday and I have bounced my handsaw off them a half dozen times. They should be called handsaw safety protective pants.

I agree with opposiblethumb. Its been between 100 and 113 degrees this whole summer. I would get fatigued a lot faster and be more irritated if I was wearing a thick pair of chainsaw pants. And like tr33climb3r said I position my self so the saw is away from me. I rarely cut near my body.

Just wear the saw pants, expesive or not. Summer or winter. I still dont know why its an arguement about saw pants in the trees, I know its hot, just pour a half pound of corn starch down there and climb. Its better to spend your life wearing a life jacket and not swim or go boating once and drown IMO

I wear chaps and shorts in the summer. The chaps came in handy two weeks ago. First time ever. Won't ever climb with a saw without chaps again - not that I have for years.

There is a new release from Pfanner we had on show at ITCC.
Gladiator Ventilation. 25% lighter than regular Gladiators, no ankle cuffs & added mesh ventilation material around the hips to help with air circulation.
Durable Gladiator material on the front but without coating for better breathability.

These should be a good thing for warmer climates like here in OZ & parts of the US.

They look similar, but unless you got them from europe in the last few weeks they are probably regular Gladiators.

There is a little "Cool" logo under the Gladiator logo near the knee.
And the vented mesh material around the waist just under the belt line is hard to see in this size pic.

Oh yeah, and they are 25% lighter....! ;P

LOL!

I'm with the monkeyboy on this one. Casey makes a good point as well.

It's kinda like, take all the guns away and it'll cut down on crime.

If you feel safer with chaps in the tree then by all means wear them, just don't force the rest of us to wear them.

I have a pair of the Ahlborn pants that replaced my 5 year old SIP's. The pads on the cheap pants are bunching at the bottom. The directions say to hand wash only, maybe the washing machine broke mine. Worst part is I can only wear my 16" boots if I want to avoid scratching my shins. Trying to fit a 34" inseam into pants with an inseam of less than 30" doesn't work for me.

Climb in 'em everyday. Never owned anything else so I can't compare. I smell like a goat at the end of the week. Been 95 degrees and up for the last three weeks here. I get a lot of smart comments about them, but they're the only legs I've got.
