All the cool stuff is in Europe, even the videos

That's because in Europe how WELL you do something usually matters least as much as the profit you make on it. Here, it's just the profit... hence, lots of profit but very little coolness.

I don't disagree, but it comes down to the standards in the end. The moment you see OSHA demanding the use of saw protection in the tree... that's the moment the manufacturers will jump on board.

I'm sure the products available in Europe are at least partially driven by their professional standards as well.

I have 3 pair and I can tell you that they are worth what I paid for them.... which was not $100. You could find them on sale a couple of months ago for $39 I think. I can tell you that they are not the greatest quality, but they are nice for what they are. I often wonder if they would "work" as well as my chaps, but I am not going to test them out any time soon. I dont own any SIP pants, but I have compared them to the SIPs that I have seen at various trade shows and honestly, there is no comparison. You get what you pay for and these pants are no different. I would suggest these to people who want to try out saw pants but dont want to invest the money in high performance pants. I think at $100 they are a fair value, just dont expect SIPs for that price.

so what's the best pant for the money out there then? Ive only had one pair, gladiators, so nothing to compare to, but am looking to get some for my groundies. any opinions?

I think the Forester pants would be good for ground crews, but we dont like to ware them if it is going to be above 70 to 75 degrees. Right now, at about 50 degrees, the pants are great!

I asked the folks at Arborwear in '06 and their stance on it then was from a liability stand-point. They do market very well though. Look at the new stretch-tech pants. They've been promoted, introduced and marketed very well and there's a little hype about them. I'd bet they're monitoring the demand for chainsaw protective pants very closely and maybe with enough encouragement...they'd be our stateside guys for cp pants.

The back does breathe. On warmer summer days, you can really tell a difference when you get just a little breeze and how that will be enough to cool you down.
