chainsaw pants

Ive got the Gladiators and so far love them. They are my first pair of chainsaw pants but Im def a fan of how comfy they are. I did already rip the gaiter on one of my legs. I do wonder how often people wear and wash their chainsaw pants and how that seems to effect the longevity of them?

Pfanner Gladiators. they seem to have the best fit for climbing and the material is durable.

I use Dickie suspenders with them to keep them up since the harness tends to pull them down on me.

Did you find Y back suspenders? All Ive been able to find are X back.

Y back that are made to hook onto a belt. They work alright but I need to find a way to keep them from slipping off the loops.

I wash mine once a week, cold water only. No ill effects. Supposedly washing does diminish the effectiveness of the protection. So I'll deal with the smell to extend the life of the pants. I bought two pairs after much deliberation and having found a sale online that I leveraged with Sherrill.

Stihl hi-flex are a great pair of trousers. Great for winter and summer. Awesome flexability. I have a couple pair and wear them more than any pair I have, and I have alot of different brand of trousers.

I really like the look of those Stihl X.

especially since they named them after me.

hey BB. You want to get them in for me and ship them to me?

my black SIP are pretty nice, I never liked how the SIP label ripped off on the 4th time wearing them though.

that picture is so incedably fake though. everything new and look at the woman in the background in Stihl get up too.

I think it would look better with a real world worker and a LITTLE bit of dirt on things.

How can anyone afford $395.00 pants? I would really like to know.

Agreed. I am very glad there are guys out there that take safety that seriously, but they shouldn't have to pay that much to be safe and comfortable.

For those of you who go to the trade shows and communicate with manufacturers I encourage you to keep pushing the concept of affordable and domestically available saw pants to the vendors.

Stihl, Husky, and Oregon all have much better options available in Europe than they do in the USA. This shouldn't be the case.

Every time I talk to my vendors I try to harp on this. If we keep demanding high quality (domestic) saw pants it will happen.

Those of you going to Pittsburgh I highly recommend talking to the Arborwear folks and asking them why they don't have a protective pant yet :) They just need some encouragement. There IS a market for these pants and more importantly there is a need for them to be readily available and affordable.

X, my SIP's did the same thing too, not that I really cared for the labels, but you would think that for the price that you pay for these pants, that would not happen.

I think that they have decided to limit their liability by not getting into the realm of PPE.

Seeing that we live in such a litigious society, I can't really blame them.

I sure would like to buy a good pair of chainsaw pants here in the US though, instead of having to get them overseas.

I had almost the exact same response in mind, Chris. Even beyond the legal ramifications (which are significant) there is the lengthy and expensive process of getting the pants UL rated in the first place.

If your protective pants don't pass the testing the first time then you have to redesign them and retest them. I think this could be why you see some very old pant designs still being sold in the states (Swedepro aka Stihl, Husky, etc.)

Making 18.50 an hour and having a wife and a son and paying a 1500 dollar morgage every month I wish I could afford things like this. And I wish my bosses would pony up and buy stuff like this. I showed them the new pants sherrill is selling and they went off on who would pay that much for climbing pants

Morons, an ER co-pay is more than a pair of gladiators. I've cut myself with a chainasaw in a tree... it costs a lot more than $400, especially if you factor in lost wages... and it HURTS!
