Chain saws from pawn shops

I have seen good saws at Yankee Peddler in Danbury, both Stihls and Husquavarnas. Yesteday they had a nearly new Husky 390XF asking $900, usually you can bargain with them. How do you know if it has a clear title, there has been no fraud, theft, etc.?? Is there a way to know for sure?

I have a Stihl 460 that has been serviced, $550 firm with 20" bar, nice condition, contact for pictures, etc..

It's funny I was up at the Yankee Peddler in Danbury not long ago after a friend had a gaggle of saws swiped. You're right, there are many at that shop... but not the ones I was looking for. But ya gotta figure some are hot, I mean what are the options for selling so many stolen saws? Pawn shops, Ebay, Craigslist right?

I'm still thinking about the MS 460 you have I will let you know if I decide to pull the... throttle. local.

They operate on the principle of price stuff really high and then entertain offers. Actually there are three pawn shops in Danbury, there is one more unscrupulous than YP, not that it is easy to run a pawn shop, the stolen goods business is highly profitable when you have drug addicts and other desperate people who will sell just for their next fix. Can the cops do their job in interdicting thefts? It is tough, probably not without an irate robbed citizen holding their feet to the fire.

I buy and sell collectibles and the theft issue is a major problem, there are reports all the time but usually the robbed person is out of luck unless they get their stuff back within 24 hours through dogged vigilance.

For those who need to do blanket google searches on stolen equipment, let me know if anyone needs to know how to do this, so that if something turns up anywhere on the web matching your description, you will be notified.

I paid strong on this unit and they are great saws. I don't want to run it on Bargain News, based on previous experience.
