I think there is a bit of perspective loss going on here. If someone is installing a lag bolt in a tree that has the potential to kill someone ( not saying you are or aren't) then that is the problem. We aren't talking about a life support link in our climbing system. I wonder if you are going to throw out any piece of gear you own made by treestuff or stitched/spliced by ABR because a lag bolt broke. Now I am not saying they shouldn't stand behind everything they sell and nick's response certainly did not suggest intent to diffuse the situation as soon as possible. However, publicly bashing a company because a piece of hardware that (in my opinion) should only be used for low risk ornamental trees, broke, is uncalled for. I don't care if its treestuff, sherrill, comcast, monsanto, etc.
The reaction is disproportionate to the incident. I wonder if pctree has a different ax to grind?
