TreeBuzz I need your help:frenetico:... I am looking to buy a rig with a dump bed / chip box that is legal to register in the state of California.

Feel free to post any information :estudioso: (websites, links, etc...) on rules/regs or share what you know.

Please share stories of how great it is not living in California and pics:foto: of your bad ass, coal burning diesel rigs:descansando:

CalTreeEquipment - (Matt Bauer) is a great resource for guys like me: www.californiatreeequipment.com

also check out their YouTube channel to see the equipment in action. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC859y8z3DF3DwIfxAYFEb5A

If you guys find something that will work, I'm open to financing the right truck in the near future.

Budget is 50K or less. Diesel. 4X4 Manual

Currently our only chip truck is a die hard 1989 F700 / 429 gas motor / 5 speed with 2 speed rear end. With a 14 ft chip box that holds a fat load.

Is the state going to not allow you to register your truck? My registration is due up at the end of april, I'm s.o.l if this happens. Just trying to find a new chipper right now to replace my 2008, which is tier 4i. This is going to be a head ache if I have to get a different truck too. Any info appreciated!

Cal Line Equipment in Sacramento put on a class and had a guy from the Air Quality Resource Board in to speak for half a day. The guy had wanted two days to talk about CARB.

One of the things he told us is, "We don't know." You could get one ruling from one official and go one jurisdiction over and get some totally different ruling on a given issue. The one thing he said for sure is that fines will be big right from the get go. (A tree guy in LA told me he stopped running one big diesel stump grinder because fines were $10,000 per day.)

Walmart rented a big generator to power their store because power coming in was damaged.

They were fined 3K because the (RENTAL) generator was certified as mobile but they were using it stationary.

Just got my registration papers, I have a 95 f800 5.9 diesel, they are going to allow me to register it, so the way I look at it, if California allows me to renew my registration they have no foot hold to fine me.

It's, tier 4 interim which I guess is not good after July this year. Everything I'm saying is just what I've interpreted from California websites, if anyone knows more, like what I could do to make my chipper legal without getting a whole new unit, any other information is greatly appreciated!

Before giving up on a thing, talk to other officials until you get the answer you want/need. Once obtained get whatever paperwork documented and handled immediately. See post #10 above.

I just had this happen on a banking issue today. Branch one -"We can't do that," branch two - "thats too big we can't do that", branch three - "sure, thank you for your business."
