Hi folks,
I'm a Canadian arborist who's taken a bit of a leap and traveled to Australia for some work experience. I feel there is a lot to learn by immersing myself in a different ecosystem and by observing the variety of different approaches to our trade this country has to offer. This goes for both practical arboriculture like climbing operations as well as consulting/urban forestry.
I've arrived in Melbourne as of two days ago and would like to connect with local arborists, for experience and friendship. One of my personal goals while here is to climb some massive Eucalyptus regnans.
Back home I climb DdRT, but would like to use this experience as an opportunity to learn SRT. I've worked with rope for years and have been looking forward learning how to access and work on a new system. I believe it would be foolish to think I can figure it out on my own, especially when mixed with a new species of tree.
So, is there anyone out there in the Victoria area, that's interested in showing a Canadian arborist around? In the canopy, and on the ground? I'd be happy to trade stories over a beer, and or just shoot the breeze in the canopy.
Cheers
