Can I function with just a cell phone?

Tom-

I use an iPad and iPhone for everything. My iPad is connected to the Verizon network because I live off grid and can’t have wifi at home. It also helps for how much time and work I do on the road these days. There are times that it is frustrating and doesn’t want to cooperate with certain programs but the software is getting better and those instances are getting to be less common.

I personally dislike the phone/tablet for typing, but they make some nice bluetooth keyboards I've heard.

A small laptop running a linux distribution like ubuntu is cheap, surprisingly flexible and the OS is not aggressive. Pretty easy to get used to if you run it stock. Also most software is free, open source and quite good. Can run some linux distros on outdated computers, less CPU hogging.

Maybe try it on your old laptop, or try a cheap notebook, minimal financial outlay if you decide you don't like it.

If you can get a reliable app maybe will work but I have been stung more than twice by iPhone and am going back to paper - but I am a small operator so extremely efficient use of time is not required.

The iPhone works great until an update occurs. Then I get random deletions of calendar entries, random deletions from contact lists etc. I was not using an ap as I haven't found one without bugs in it... I will keep my mind open on apps but reliability is paramount for me as I hate trying to recreate accounts/jobs from memory..

Slow internet means I dont back up often - backups which may or may not fix the issues I am experiencing. Personally I think its software engineered obsolescence, as it happened on my last iphone as well, I thought getting a new model would fix the issue - and it did - until the next update on the new phone....

Make sure you have paper or reliable digital backups if go this route...

Hi Ryan

What programs aren’t playing nice?

How do you get around The problems

There are some things like certain web page builders that didn’t want to work on the iPad. I can’t think of anything major that I have a problem with on a regular basis. You just learn to adapt and find work arounds when you decide to stick with this platform. I haven’t used a traditional computer or laptop consistently since 2012?
