Cambium saver.. Is it safe?

I missed "day one" so please explain the "no no" in that.
Off topic but anyway the fact is that side branches or laterals CAN tear out at the union, so it is considered safer to pass the line around the main stem when isolating. (see the latest pic in this thread from Bobbob).

I get it that in these photos you're probably just using the lateral as an example but in the interest of best practices I thought I would mention it lest we have some sort of influence on young and impressionable climbers.

On topic: Delta Link (stamped, from Maillon Rapide). K.I.S.S.

Does adding a pinto/any pulley maybe retrieving cinched anchors that much easier than just a Delta link
Oh yeah bro.. fairleading with a pulley can help a good bit for a frictionful retrieve. I've noticed the quickie when setup well has worked in this case as the Delta and the pinto when orientated with slik pin to roll on the climb side...if that bullshit makes any sense

That is exactly how you do it. A sewn eye or a tight butterfly knot keeps the flared out ends oriented properly... I've been straying away from cinching my eyes ever since I found out that the regulation for a terminal eye on a rope is only 20kn, although that was a different thread entirely.

A knots gotta be around d the same or lower and the amount of force to break a person is nearly half that I believe so may not be such a worry in reality. ;) Maybe I'm wrong .. were all in our own worlds ya know. Maybe I'm misinterpreting your statement.

No, you're right. Mostly it is some strange trust issue... the sewn eyes even say 5400 on them. I don't like loading the same spot over and over endlessly with the same type of load. Spliced and sewn eyes took me a few years to trust at all. Knots are always at least slightly different.

Sometimes I'll use a conduit for a base anchored SRT line, that's because I'm planning on switching over to DdRT after initial ascent and it's convenient to have the sleeve already in place over the limb. Otherwise for an SRT canopy anchor, no.

It's a good idea because there is often quite a lot of 'sawing' motion on the rope even if you stay on a base tie. I've seen cambium damage this way on a base tie.
