Brush Bandit 1390XP Questions!!

I'm in the middle of buying some new chippers ,for us I prefer disc mainly because of how far they throw chips , last year I demoed a 1390 and wasn't impressed ,had it running side by side with a 200xp and it was by far superior , in our fleet I have
Rayco disc and drum
Bandit 150,200,250,255
Carleton 1712
I've had morbark but no dealer support, choice is yours but $ wise a 200 will be far less and from what I was told if you go Kubota it is 99 hrs but Deere you can still get the 140 hrs
Hey Cardinal just took back Morbark! They are right by ya in Uxbridge! I know you like your bandits but just saying! Royce I had a 1390 with a 140 JD this summer for a week and was a good machine, oak savanna from here's friend John bought it, loves it!

Welltree produces upwards or over 360,000 manhours per year in tree service.

Rough estimate - almost 1000 chipping hours per week.

Heed his free consulting.
If you want to try the best 15 inch I have ever used get a 255 bandit HD I have 2 and have made morbark and Vermeer dealers take there demo machines and get them off my job site because they were in my way, I know there are a lot of morbark guys out there and they have there opinion too,
I have never had a good morbark or Vermeer and not for lack of trying but in our business machines must run and be reliable so I stick to what has proven itself to me in the field

Is that the name of your company? We have a tree co. called Welltree here in Maine too. They have one office, and three bucket trucks. Just FYI.

Stewart Hunt is the main salesman at Cardinal now. He used to sell for James at Grinding and Drilling Equip. and Vermeer before that. Welltree I bought an International with a 60' reachall rear mount off you about 8+ years ago. Its long gone now but served me well. I see she's back on kijiji now! Saw you and your dad at that auction in Sarnia a few years ago when city wide was selling all of their stuff.

There are a few old Weller trucks around here. I sold the reach all when I brought a 2002 chevy with a cat 3126 and an LRV55 up from Florida. Super clean truck, no rust and still going strong.

Went with the Morbark. Was a good deal. We were able to buy it used which allowed us to keep our Bandit as a back up chipper. Might sell the bandit if I find that we just are not using it enough. So far I am very impressed with the Morbark. Now, I am used to a bandit 200xp. So this is a huge step-up for us. I have found it to be extremely good at chipping large logs. I also LOVE the auto feed. Before we would have to have a guy standing next to the chipper operating the feed bar. Now, one person can feed it all day with the dingo.
I thought I would miss not having the ability to lift the feed roller from both sides. But, I have found that I do not need to lift the feed rollers. Even with large logs it will just slowly rise and feed it's self in. So, after two days of use it has proved to be a great investment so far. I hope this continues. But if not, I can always take out the trusty bandit.

Jeez, it looks brand new! Very nice Royce. Smart buy- it's always good to have a backup.

Congrats! You will be happy with it! Is it a 15R or 15RX? I got a brand new 15R this spring and we love it. It rolled out of the factory in march. I got a tier 3 142hp CAT in it with no emissions crap on it. Solid feed table which is good for feeding it with the mini skid and the winch will pull double what my vermeer would! We have around 500 hrs on it and so far so good!IMG_5337.webp

IMHO, unless you're going to get some major $ back from selling, it is so worth having a backup chipper! Work comes to a complete halt without a chipper, and whether it's a major breakdown, or just wanting to take a few days to service/maintain it without the stress of "Oh my god this needs to be fixed and running by tomorrow morning", it's worth having that money tied up. Really gives you more options work wise, too.

Yup, ours is the same. Tier 3 142HP Cat. No emission stuff at all. I have a job lined up for it with 100 or so white pine trees to remove. We will be chipping all the tops. Looking forward to using the winch.

That is my feeling at the moment. It just is worth more to me actually sitting, than selling it. Like you mentioned, Its nice to not have to rush through on a maintenance job. Plus, this is giving me time to maintain the bandit and do a few things with it that has been put off because we are so busy.
