Broken construction crane-New York City-Hurricane

with the boom folded backwards why do they need another crane the damage is already done. like i said some 20 ton rolling blocks, a welder, some 1" plate, a torch, some back guys, 6 experienced bull rigging industrial iron head boomers from Houston Tx, a tugger, 4 operators: one for the favco, one for the tugger, one for the hydro, one for an industrial forklift; a variety of up to ten ton rigging and hand tools, 4 truck drivers with day cabs and 40' flat beds, a 10 ton industrial forklift and a 100 ton hydro in the laydown yard. hazard cleared one day, crane dismantled a week or less maybe with traffic in new york. i'll bump up the price $350,000. Call me I'll make it happen ;-)

edit:

it is new york so make it $550,000 for paid off city, state, traffic control, and union officials; plus the high rent on the close off-location lay down yard and food/hotel/travel cost

Of course they would still need to erect another tower crane to finish the project so why not do that and be done with it. That way they dont spend unneeded money on all that stuff you described. Although it would work.

secure a 5 inch steel cable from the tower down to a sewer on broadway and 57th. get jomoco to mod some 200t's into Methylacetylene-propadiene gas torches. treebuzzer rec. climb it and zip line that sucker. repave landing zone.

Lack of maintenance on the crane and high wind. we had two towers almost blow over here in 2003. they were so damaged that they had to be disassembled immediately. the only reason they didn't go over is the building was erected around them

That is awesome. what would you haul that kind of weight into the sky with?

Do you bid tree jobs like that?

"$800 for that removal mam"...

One day later....."well I meant $8500 this IS Memphis after all"

dude i will meet you one day, might want to watch that tongue.

You like to say things that are almost defamation.

How old are you? Cause you have the tongue of a twenty year old.

Was I asked to submit a formal bid on disassembling the tower?

if i was the price would be submitted and billed accordingly; if we got the project. the only increases would be if the job went outside of the defined project scope due to unusual job conditions or customer demands that fell outside of pre-negotiated job parameters.

you just keep on barking doggie, one day you'll find out you've been barking up the wrong tree.

sit back and watch me shine:
2 years of life after davey's= 60' bucket on a 99 international, 55 yard loader with 120e prentice on 89 ford 9000 ltl, 22yrd arbortech bed on 91 international, a vermeer 1800a, sk650, carlton 4404 with a 60hp duetz. a full complement of chainsaws, tree rigging, climbing gear, ground work implements; along with three full time employees, three part time.

next year i hope to put another full time crew on. that doesn't happen with crappy, over priced work here boy. It happens by hard work with good knowledge of the trade and a little luck... all by Gods design and for His Glory.

So keep on barking doggie. I did my time and finished both of my apprenticeships one in the tree business and one in the rigging business. so hate on hater....... as We say at Arbor MD let the haters hate and the climbers climb.......... I'm climbing on up to the east sideeeeee.........got to get my piece of the pieeeeeeee.....

I am ot allowed to use those fan things, they just give me the thingy with the tines on it!

Congratulations on having your own climbing gear, thats a big accomplishment! I am gonna get 4d saddle in a few years when I am ready..

You did an apprenticeship at Davey huh? They dont have those BTW.

Learn to take a joke, you know, in gods glory and all...wacko

I think you'll find the 6-8 employees of the worlds largest gong show, sorry "Davey" that go through the in school portion of their apprenticeship at Humber college would disagree. Some of them like it so much they need to do the first year twice.

Davey and any other big company is an easy target for ridicule.

The arborist who had the biggest influence on me becoming the arbo that I am now 'apprenticed' with Davey right out of college. Maybe not a formal union/guild type apprenticeship, but, a training with a more skilled foreman. Gary went on to run his own company. There wouldn't be one person in the Twin Cities who knows him who would ever have a bad word about him. He is the epitome of Oak Man...and he worked for Davey...proves that all of Big Green's employees aren't dolts.
