break test ideas?

Location
Australia
Hi All,
I'm going to break test some ropes, primarily to test my splicing. I'm very interested in your ideas on what to look out for/how to approach it. I have

Poison ivy 4m (intend to use class 1 double braid form samson site)
Arbormaster/blue streak 4m (where can I find good 16 strand instructions? What whipping type?
Arbormaster- red/black/white 4m (maybe a different whip in this one?
5/8 tenex 3m eye sling

Cheers

do you have someone to break them for you on a load tester? we have access to one , if you need it. as far as the splices, you want to test a straight pull end to end and see where it breaks, at the throat, the splice, or in the standing rope. dont worry much about what whipping, they all snap at a low load anyways, concentrate more on getting your splices consistent so you can evaluate the failure after. if you have more questions, pm me and Ill get ya my phone # and some info on a tester.

I should have mentioned my location- I'm in Australia so postage might be high.
I have to pay a company to break them- but should be able to convince the boss to put in. Yes it will be a straight pull on a test bed with a splice in each end to attach to shackle/etc.
Good point about the whipping/stitching-
What about the 16 strand - any tips?
If my splices are good the rope should break behind the taper, right??
