Bousun vs. leg straps??

Just wondering which style was more popular with the viewers here and also what saddle are you using, why you like it or why not.

Me t'ree, Butterfly II :)

If the waist belt is kept above your hips and nsug it shouldn't slip down.

The way that the BF transfers the load from the bridge to the back of your things and waist reduces the crotch bite better than any other saddle that I've climbed in. If you look at how the load is collected in front and then spread to the back you'll see that it's much different than most other saddles. Others have the load going to the leg straps in the groin. The BFII sends the load around the outside of your legs and waist.

I have a bousun and i love it. I'm a little bigger than most and i love sitting on the bousun. works for me. i have the arbormaster versatile.

Bigger than most, a picture of the Nutty Professor trimming a tree with a plumbers crack hanging out of his saddle keeps popping into my mind. Not a pretty sight. /forum/images/graemlins/9lame.gif
How about dislikes or what would you want to change to make the saddle better suit your needs?

Buckingham Glide (1st edition) like it alot for layout. I modded it so that leg straps, bridge, and waistbelt are in 1 left and right ring (instead of 2) I am a little disappinted that they have a 2nd edition with better leg straps. As far as bosun seats they're too restrictive for me, I like to tease my friends that have them that they must takes alot of breaks at height.

I use the BF2 w/legs. Never tried a bousun, but have heard lots of good things as far as comfort goes. I like to pull myself around a lot in the tree and always thought that having a board tied to my butt may restrict that to some degree. I came from a Ness saddle and think very highly of their products, but wanted to go a little more streamlined so I chose the BF. My complaint with the BF is not having a good side clip to hang my saw on.

Anybody having any problems with the weight of the saw pulling the saddle down?
I must be the only one with no arse to hold the dang thing up. /forum/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Weaver sliding dee with leg straps. quite comfortable to me, but fairly heavy also. I began changing my gear to lighter pieces. All that is left is the saddle to lighten up now. I've been looking at that new saddle-x by bashlin, and recently looked at the butterfly II. I think both are great saddles, but I want to know what the downfalls of the saddles' durability might be. Until I make my final decision the weaver will keep working for me.

Oh yea, I also tried the bosun seat saddle that the SSA has and found it quite comfortable if you are hanging, but a little cumbersome when limbwalking. I say evaluate your own tendencies and choose based on your climbing style.

Whut Jerod said about the Weaver sliding dee. I started with a buttstrap, but nowadays I much prefer a legstrap saddle.

Yah, my saw pulls one side of my saddle down. I don't have any hips or arse. I'm thinking about getting some buckingham suspenders for my pro master saddle.

I think that many of us suffer from what an old girlfriend called "Arborist Butt" After seeing many of my buddies she concluded that none of us had butts. That was OK with her, she liked the look.

Not just mine, the rest of you too /forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif /forum/images/graemlins/applaudit.gif

sorry, i mislead..i mean big, not fat. lol. 200 lbs feels good sitting on my bousun, but i've nver had leg straps. i hear you guys talking about modifying your saddles, how do you do that? can i put leg straps easily on my versatile?

I have the versatile bouson seat saddle works for me.I think the way the straps are made you can not change over.has any body looked at the new arbor master pro iv saddle from buckingham?

I have the Master II Pro series with leg straps that I put my own bridge between the lowest attachment points. This give me the floating qualities and seems to distribute the weight between my legs and back.

As far as it sliding down. The reason I like the pro series is for the individual waist strap that I can cinch tight to keep my saddle in place.

Me, exactly. I've been wearing suspenders for over a decade. The saw becomes nearly weightless when the weight is distributed across the shoulders. Suspenders ARE kinda a PITA as far as your ROM, but that's a trade-off I've learned to live with.
It's cool being able to hang an 066 on yur side and barely feel it. /forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif
And yur climbing saw? Fugetaboutit! /forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif
