Boots???

Red Wing forestry boots with goretex for spikes and redwing hikers with aluminum toes for pruning. Haven't found one boot that gives you best of both worlds.

As always I gotta put in a plug for good ol American made Danner Boots.

I've got the Mountain Lites for summer and the Santium for winter.
If you take care of them and are on top of it you can send them in to Danner and they will recondition the leather and rebuild your boots. I haven't worn any other brand of boot since I started in the tree business over 11 years ago.
Those Klimars look enticing though.

I picked up a pair of Zamberland Skill a few months back, they are definately comfortable, but as far as climbing goes, I'm not too thrilled with them. Somehow the sole manages to tear bark. Can't say as I've ever had that problem in the past with other boots.

While on topic though, I ordered a pair of Highliners not that long ago, and was wondering if you guys feel that the extra steel is a good investment?

I've got a pair of La sportiva Makalu's. they just won't quit. I've had them like 10 yrs and they're just getting better. No smell, light ware on the soles. Still stiff as boards. I love them.
