Boom/ Lift daily inspections

Daily inspections of boom and lifts by crew members should be conducted at the start of each work day.
Looking things over critically not only keeps the person flying the bucket safe and productive but it provides training for the newest crew members. Inspections should be noted on the job brief, and are part of the 360' walkaround. Only after a static inspection is performed should a pre flight be conducted, lower controls and bucket controls.

Some things to check : Critical Fasteners check for movement looseness, missing parts . Bolt alignment reference markings on the turret base and around knuckles.

Paint cracks, fine spiderweb cracks on lifts and elevators. these may be indicators of a more serious or developing condition.
Hydraulic fluid, leaks around hose fittings or tell tale signs of fluids that are generated from a source inside the boom.

Scrapes , cuts into the boom, where contact with wires and cable have worn away the protective coatings.

This by no means is a complete list of things to look for and is not to be a substitute for annual inspections by a qualified technician.
